In 2003, Sebastian began his degree in Integrated Digital Media at NYU's Polytechnic School of Engineering, and by 2008 had completed the accelerated BA/MA program. From there, he worked in graphic and website design and shared a flat with four people in Brooklyn while barely making ends meet prior to his sister calling him up in 2010 to build a website for a new business venture she was taking on.
Not only did Sebastian build the website for her, but he also ended up working for and with her as she sold clothing and goods online. Eventually the two of them opened a brick and mortar store in Brooklyn, and Sebastian moved to share an apartment with his sister, rather than four roommates.
Currently, Sebastian does freelance web and graphic design, while running the website for Honeywine Vintage & Gifts and helping his sister curate items for both store and website.
▶ No one calls Sebasitan by his full name except for his mother, and even then only when he's getting into trouble, which happens more often than you'd think for someone who is almost 30 years old. He's never gone by Seb, either, and thinks it's kind of weird that other guys do. He's always Bastian, or more commonly, Bash.
▶ Even though he works full time at the store, Sebastian still does a bit of freelance web design for friends. Mostly, though, he spends the bulk of his time answering e-mails and helping his sister find goods to have in the store.
▶ Sharing an apartment with his sister and working with her as well is not as awful as it sounded at first. He and Courtney perform very different functions at the shop, so they actually don't see each other as much as they initially thought - he spends the bulk of his time in the back on the web and the phone, and she spends more time with customers. He handles most of her work e-mail, as well.
▶ Sebastian only dates casually, and never really commits. He was almost engaged, once, and she ended up breaking up with him for someone else. He's been fearful of commitment since.
▶ Even though he lives with his sister now, he still spends a lot of time hanging out with the guys he used to live with. They were some of his best friends, and now they mostly spend their nights going to bars and picking up girls. He spends a lot of time crashing on their couch because he's too drunk to make it home.
▶ Most of the graphic design work that Sebastian does is freelance - he mainly designs flyers for his friends' bands, or friends of friends' bands.
